2000 Honda insight

2000 Honda Insight, 5-Speed, 50MPG, One-Owner! SALE

Interested in this insight near me on craigslist. The high miles doesn't really scare me too much but I don't really know about spefics on the insight like the battery. If it wasn't replaced by now is it safe to say it probably needs it? Is this a decent price? I drive 200 miles a day or more 5 days a week and am considering an insight..

I'd take the VIN from the ad, and call the service dept of your local Honda dealership. Ask them if there has ever been a warranty replacement of the traction battery on that car, they should tell you. It will give you a bit more info on whether or not it's been replaced. Odds are if it has been, it was done at a Honda dealer, and probably under warranty. If you go look at the car, make sure the IMA light on the dash comes on when you cycle the ignition key. So in other words, when you first turn the key on before you start the car, look for the IMA light, it should come on. If it doesn't, then someone may have disconnected the warning light.

Just because it's close doesn't make it a deal. Seems pricy to me for the shape it's in, miles it's seen, rust it bears, and probable IMA issues you'll find after you've driven it far enough to reset the warnings the guy cleared.

You could always drive to sunny Florida and get one with about 150,000 miles less for about the same price, since I came to my senses and didn't buy another one today!

You didn't end up buying it, huh? My neighbor said that in the garage where he parks one of his cars, there's a guy who keeps three of them in there, two silvers and a red.

I could totally see you asking "I found it in Cocoa Beach, can I keep it?"
