2011 chevy cruze eco has automatic grille block..
From AUTOWEEK april 5 2010 page 7.
"CLOSE THE SHUTTERS
the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco debuting at New York auto show gets a 40mpg hwy rating based in part on a GM first: a lower front facia with shutters that automaticly close at 37mph (and reopen at 34mph) to improve hwy-speed aerodynamics and gain 2 mpg. The compact sedan goes into production this summer."
well there you have it......partial block grille worth 2mpg.

...gonna have to think about combing the junkyards for "cannibalized" mechanisms for tranplanting into existing GM cars.

Hopefully they make one for the VE Commodore so I can put one on the wife's hot rod as a retrofit.
I am suprised that it isn't temperature dependant. But it is GM.

tjts,
do you know what car they have that on? or is it just one of those standard (for BMW) items?
It is very cool.

It's too bad it closes the lower grill, and not the upper grill, IMO. But nevertheless, it is good to *finally* have something like this from an OEM.

Pretty much every model with a diesel engine sold in europe or marketed as an 'efficient' variant. They're just now starting put this stuff into cars sold in the US.

The Cruze Eco probably has a lower drag coefficient than the Volt...
