l just read the LT-1 SAE paper. fuel economy peaks with the 5.3L with AFM (very little actual benefit).

it truly is a brilliant combustion system. consistently good combustion efficiency and stability at all rpm, and under all loads. some tricks they used are impossible with a 4V chamber.

high compression > turbo. under high loads, turbos run very rich to protect the engine. the LT-1 is efficient under most conditions.

it's EPA rated at 29 mpg, whereas the C6 was rated 26 mpg. if C6 can get 30+ mpg real world, then the C7 should be mid-30s. A 5.3L C7 might be rated at 30 mpg (the paper revealed a <0.5 mpg difference!).
