ive found a inline 4 vibrates side to side.

where a inline 3 vibrates front to rear.
are little tractor eats up the splines on the clutch disc if you let it sit and idel a lot. using 1,000rpms as idle, makes the splines last a few hundred hours more.

are old 76 ford 300-6 is a engine that was originally thought up back in 1965 or so and its spooky smooth. for a old farm truck.
that is until the EGR fouls a plug or two.....

unlike a modern EGR its truly just a tube, no control at all on it.

An inline 6 is configured like a pair of 3 cyl engines. The crazy end to end vibrations of the 3 cyl cancel each other out on an inline 6 hence the smoothness.

4 cylinder is much smoother than a 3 cyl.

If you balance the vertical imbalance 100%, you get a side to side imbalance.
Less than 100%, you get a combination of the two. The percentage balance used varies from engine to engine, depending upon multiple factors.
