300,000 tow rating?
Tesla's CEO has been tweeting about the new electric pickup they are developing. What do you think about the claim that it can tow up to 300,000 pounds? I can't think of what you would need that much for except to haul 53 foot trailers filled with sand...

I think that is a misprint. 30,000 lbs would be more likely.

Maybe it has the torque to get a nice easy-rolling 300,000 lbs moving for publicity stunts, but you'll never see that on the road because brakes, suspension, etc.

Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand, and I'll move the world.

It must either have 2 Merlin or one Raptor engine.
I wonder what that does to whatever it tows.
Even 300.00 Newton would be insane.
30.000 pounds seems more realistic, may be, if the pickup is like a semi tractor with a flat bed.
The Semi has 4 Model 3 motors so it should be able to pull at least 20.000 pounds (4 times the weight of a Model 3), probably more if weighed down enough.
(EDIT: never mind, see next post. This number describes the weight of what is towed, not the towing force)

300.000 is no typo
Hold your horses, this ain't new.
Musk retweeted something that was out there for 9 months.

Whether it gets clearance to tow loads that heavy on public roads remains to be seen.
