Ecomodding success: 33mpg in a Honda Insight

Why is it a success? Because I didn't have to rent a truck.

In other news, commute route and length make a huge difference. This morning I averaged 68.8mpg to work from my new house at 20F, whereas from my old apartment I could expect ~55 at that temperature.

Not quite. 95% moved, need to clean the old apartment and get the last items. Slept in the new house though, on the floor of the living room amid boxes, and put back on the clothing I wore yesterday to go to work. Ecomodding house thread soon to come.

The tiny house movement has gone too far!

What are you going to do with that thing? Is that a door on the back?

It's my chicken coop. When it's 20 below zero and windy, the chickens (I'm sure) enjoy the inch and a half of insulation.

A used Leaf sounds interesting for my commute back and forth to work. It's around 18 miles each way but I may not get any more than 38 miles per charge out of a 2010 Leaf (9 year old battery) during a blizzard with -10F temps. Buuut heat would be instant, and it would be nice to save on ICE wear with those extreme cold starts.

Correct me if I'm wrong with my math, but for cost per mile, 60MPGe is ~560wh/mile, and at 16.5 cents per kwh that's 9.25 cents per mile.

Comparatively speaking, 32.6MPG at $2.55 (last I paid for gas) works out to 7.82 cents per mile.

Of course, the math turns around if I can use someone else's electricity.
