Welcome to the "club" !!
Whenever I fill up at the gas station, I sometimes ask the person filling up next to me what kind of gas mileage they are getting - usually if they have a newer eco car.
Today the girl had a 2010 Toyota and was rather proud of her 36 mpg $25k car !! It WAS nice looking anyway !!
She asked if I was thinking of getting one like it and I had to tell her no, as that would be a major drop in mpg.
She peeked her head around the pump and said what are you getting in yours ?
I told her and she kinda had a look of disbelief then said, wow ! That's pretty good.
Feels good to have a car that cost so little yet gets such great mpg doesn't it Geo Metropolis ?!!
Enjoy !!

Good job, I have yet to beat 50 mpg for a full tank but I did beat 60 mpg for 300 miles once a month or so ago. I had 2 gallons of pure heptane- (recycled from work) in the tank and the metro ran like a kitten after a mouse. Way more energy in that tank vs. 87 octane.

Impressive. I've thought about getting a metro a few times.. are these cars reliable for high miles?

These cars have the potential for high MPGs, but it is up to the driver whether it will get it or not.

Nice accomplishment! I have yet to do any aero mods, but I am "chomping at the bit" to do some.

Today I broke my personal best. 500 mile on 8.33 gallons. I was hoping to break the 60 MPG mark but I guess I will have to be happy with 59.9MPG. How did I do it in Idaho's super cold temps of 20's-30's as a daytime high? Well First I read a ton of info off of geometroforum then I sent my head to Canada and had 3tech do the works on the economy head package. Then I tore out the seats. After months of solid 53, 52, 55, and 51MPG's I read Starstream 5000's fuel log and things he was doing to get his metro into the 70 MPG range. The key was drive 35 MPH in 5th gear which would normally lug the engine but thenew head lowered the power band so the thing don't die. I also covered my radiator with card board to keep it warmer in these winter temps. Yep sure enough after days of put-putting around I decided 500 miles was good enought to call it a tank. I drive a 1993 Metro Base. Next mods I'm going to do? install the MpGino I bought months ago, block the front grill for better aero, delete the side mirrors, install a dash console I got out of a 1996 metro 3 cylinder which has a tachometer so I can watch those rpms. Eventually I'll get 13 or 14 inch rims to gear up the tranny from the 4.10 that it is to a 3.75 or higher.
Its a god day.
If I can get 60 MPG in these cold temps, imagine what I can get after these mods and when the temps start to warm up!!
Kevin
I think this is my first post.
