I averaged 55 mpg in daily commuting on a '66 Suzuki X-6 Hustler. It was a two-stroke twin with six speed transmission, comparable to the Yamaha RD-250/350s ridden by King Kenny. IIRC, I only invested $250 in it, & sold it for the same price 5 years & 20k miles later.
