89 mpg from new bike

While most of the Northern hemisphere is deep in winter us here in the south is in nice sunny summer. But even our winters are sunny and warm never gets below 20deg Celsius. Saw a good deal on a bike called a honda xr125, its like a little dual purpose bike. Good for about 120kph but cruises easily at around 100kph or 60 mph. First tank gave me an average of 38 km/l or 89mpg without having any ecomodding in mind. Looking forward to see what i get driving with proper ecomodding and some minor mods!

Is it still fitted with the CG125 carburettor-fed OHV engine, right?

While most sport bikes and cruisers start at 250 cc in the US, the dual sport bikes come in a variety of sizes starting from the 50 cc youth bikes. The dual sport tires let you ride in mud or snow. First is to optimize the gear ratio to your terrain. Next is to work on a front and rear fairing system including a front fender closer to the wheel. The tail box gets the backpack weight off your shoulders. See in the Motorcycle/ Scooter and the Aerodynamics sections. There threads for streamlining motorcycles. Sendler's CBR250 tail box is a good example.

This version is still made in Brazil, but now only for export. I actually used to know a Jap who worked at the Honda factory in Manaus, but I'm not sure if that would make it easier to get one of those export-only models here and it might be even harder to make it compliant with DOT and EPA requirements.

Most street legal motorcycles in the USA are going away from air cooled/ carbureted in order to meet emissions.

Air cooling is still quite a common feature for the entry-level motorcycles here in Brazil, and considering that nowadays the majority of the new motorcycles sold here are flexfuel it would actually make more sense to turn to liquid cooling.
