90s Ford Aspire?

Is there anyone on here who has experience with a mid to late 90s Ford Aspire Hatchback? They seem like Ford's version of the metro.

Never owned one, but I'd say that's accurate. They're super barebones, and powered by a Mazda engine.

Looks like most owners are getting in the high 20's with the 3 speed automatics, and mid to low 30's with manuals. Member "Cowmeat" IIRC was getting high 40's with his with careful hypermiling in Florida. The 5 speed's gear ratios are reasonably tall, and Mazda made a reasonably good engine.

The Festiva is conceptually closer to the Metro, as the Aspire was slightly bigger.

Thanks Ecky . . . forgot I even had a Fuelly account! Brings back memories

Black Widow was actually a Festiva - from what I recall the Aspire didn't get anywhere near the mpg of the Festiva

I had a lot of fun in that car - below is my Fuelly link for it while I was keeping up with the mpg
