Lift is your friend if you go driving off of cliffs.

No, it's not. If you go driving off a cliff, your only friend... well... obviously doesn't like you any more. Why else would you go driving off a cliff?

I remember when Evil Kneivel drove off a cliff.
His aeromods didn't work as planned- too much lift in the front and IIRC it tumbled.
No it wasn't a Tempo.

I wonder if anyone ever tried this with a DaVinci flying machine?

Yes, I saw on TV where various da Vinci designs were built and tested... it wasn't a cliff but the glider worked.
Made me when I watched it, but the crew that made the super crossbow ****ed it up by not totally following the plans... they used their own interpretation of it and it didn't work. I felt that had they done what the sketches showed it would have worked, or at least, better than what they did.

I thought there was something similar on Spike just a while back... can't find it, though. I dunno if they were DV designs, or just garage hacks.
Speaking of which, I almost bought a project helicopter today. I decided against it, because I'd probably get myself in trouble with it.
The top advertised altitude was like 500 Feet, though. Just enough to kill you, should something fail.
