Aerodynamic Streamlining Template 3d Models

I've been wanting to see the Aerodynamic Streamlining Template in 3d so I could better visualize it. I recently asked some questions on the AST Part C thread where I was talking about what I'll call the "mirrored reflection" version. It is labeled "Aerodynamic Streamlining Template".

I started with what I'll call the "Navion" version (because it reminds me of a Ryan Navion small plane). I roughly traced the outline in Google SketchUp. Then I started messing around (I'm a rookie) and somewhat accidentally came up with what I think looks cool.

Thanks to aerohead for the templates. I thought they were from old books because they have that cool hand-drawn look.

Cool, like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Question is what is your purpose?
Are you just doodling, or do yo have a particular project in mind?

At a glance I'd say the front stagnation point needs to be lower and more rounded, the rear wheels need to be faired and the diffuser angle less steep.

I'm just doodling for now. I would love to build something that's got vintage looks, with some vintage parts, that's aerodynamic for MPG. This doesn't look vintage to me, though.

Yeah, some things went askew of the template, but the general concept is there. This model was a good stopping (and saving) point. It's nice to be able to save files and keep going from there. Unlike a painter that can't revert to previous versions after not "knowing when to stop", as they say.

There seems to be two different approaches,
First is the standard road vehicle with all the standard safety constraints, there you need to get down closer to the ground and embrace the mirrored ground effect.
or
You need to raise it off the ground and start to design it more like the solar racers and other super high mpg examples.

The second is more efficient aerodynamically, but more difficult to do, primarily because of the centre of gravity being raised and how this affects handling at higher road speeds
