Aftermarket Cruise Control setting for economy

I have an aftermarket Audiovox cruise control in my pickup. I had a wire cut through, so while re-wiring it and having the book out, I found some switch settings...one of which controls the response of the unit.

For testing, I am setting this to it's lowest setting which should mean that it "pushes" the pedal to the floor slower. This should equate somewhat to being more gentle on the acceleration.

I don't drive the truck too much, but do have a log on MPG for it, so I should know whether or not it works in the next month or two... (giving several runs to get more solid results)

So...anyone else tried this?

Jim

I don't have a cruise control, but that's interesting. Does it let you slow down up the hills as well?

It eventually gets to the same point on the throttle that it always did, it just takes longer. The cable does not have as much lenth as the pedal, so it never gets to WOT anyway. So up a hill, I do lose more speed that I used to, but up shorter rolling hills it now does not get to it's max point....so I have to imagine it is making some difference. Good or bad, time will tell....
