Sounds like we need a ducted fan alternator to air drag formula to see who comes out ahead.

recently going over some chores for the old car...

I remind myself the dainty piece of plastic up front saw 115mph, a deer hit, 4 ice storms, -28f and 100 above... and that was just me owning it through 3 cars and 13 years of its total of 23....

you know why it lasted that long? because 115mph is nothing. it will power nothing but a whistle.

another point of view is flying on old tankers at 450-500... that could get something going...barely. As it is the duct for air cabin is cram-aired..it needs to go that fast just to be good.

a misconception about the little turbine alternator. the cars need 700 rpm to run one..and it is geared down to what? twice as fast as the crank? so at 1000 rpm, say the alt is 2000 rpm...and that is just when it gets its max cleanly..

crazy ideas. the turbo one sounds better. just keep the heat away..and it will still be a conduit for recycling engine fire grounds...

where is the new ideas. this stuff gets old.

Turbo-compound engines show that the concept of a turbine-driven alternator in the exhaust is feasible. It would provide little (if any) power at idle, low-RPM, or coast though.

Now, what the heck is a "recycling engine fire ground"?
