Found a plug-in that gives users the ability to "collapse" quotes, but it's buggy, no longer supported, and it doesn't save bandwidth.

Not quite what we're after... :P

Nice animals!

(what about people who put quotes within quotes?)

Oh well, I guess educate is always an option. Just seemed like a much simpler fix to have a vbb plug in.

I would cite specific examples of this phenomenon, but I don't want to be rude, so I'll leave it up to Frank.

Now for a brief tutorial:

When you quote someone, you will see something like this in the text box:

QUOTE=brucey;302569][IM G]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.aka maihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/485707_10100762628034359_25817901_51698713_1491143 279_n.jpg[/IM G]

I like animals.[/QUOTE

(I inserted some spaces and removed some brackets to make this visible)

Now you can cut away any text that you don't want to appear. In this case all we want to do is remind people that Brucey said "I like animals".

So, you delete all text after the first right bracket "]". This should leave you with something which looks like this.

QUOTE=brucey;302569]I like animals[/QUOTE

except there will be brackets on the outside of that line.

This is what should appear:

We could just clean this thread up, re-title it as "How to, and how not to, reply with quotes" and make it sticky.

And then lock, so that it doesn't temp anyone (evil sneer)...
