Our rail line in Elmira is on a raised bridge system so there is no grade crossing in town; we are only 75 years behind. I am still wondering how all the electric power we will need will be generated. What would be the cost of scrapping our present rail system and building a maglev system?

It is usually a bad idea to scrap a system that works for a better one. Rather one should build the new one and then slowly transition way from the old, and eventually moving completely to the more efficient system.

We currently waste most energy we create. We do this by using poor conversion mechanisms, such as ICE from petroleum and steam from coal. Also, the sun shines down on us every day with more energy than we will ever need, and that does not count wind and biomass.

Because of these things, electricity is relatively easy to come by.
