I thought about buying a Kawasaki Eliminator 125 because of it's low price and Kawasaki's decent reputation for reliability. But, unfortunately, I'd never be tempted to ride more than 200-300 miles from home on such a low powered motorcycle. I'd like something that would tempt me to ride across the country.

Even though some folks go on road trips with such a small motorcycle, a 125 is actually meant to be a workhorse, at all. Manufacturers just make some fancier models resembling a cruiser or a crotch rocket, yet with a 125cc engine, for the folks who wish they could afford something bigger and more powerful. Maybe you wouldn't regret getting that Kawasaki, try it as a city commuter for shorter errands, and soon you might feel tempted to see how far you're safe to go with it.

I bought a new electric unicycle, which is probably more capable than a 125. I maintain that 250 is minimum for a 4-stroke vehicle.

The silly thing is that the small displacement vehicles end up being just as heavy or heavier than their larger displacement counterparts. Just look at the CBR600, it weighs about 400lbs. What other small displacement bike beats it?

Not only buyers tend to associate displacement with price/value, but the 125cc motorcycles are often seen as just utilitarian tools instead of really fancy, so it might increase the usage of heavier materials instead of those advanced lightweight alloys, carbon fiber or other high-end stuff.

Street bikes can't be fast speed, but slow speed matters on street roads. It's just a joke personally.

It may seem like a joke to you, but those small-displacement motorcycles are taken much seriously around the world, so they may be able to accomodate some occasional highway riding too, as they're often the only vehicle available for an entire household.

I drove a 150cc scooter 2000 miles last year from march to about august. Cheaper on fuel and a lot more fun to drive. 250cc would have probably been better for me as many roads have speed limits above 50. My scooter liked to cruse at 50-55 mph but the throttle was probably at 85%. Topped out at about 60, top speed was 68 going down hill. I had a few people almost wreck in to me and i decided a scooter wasn't the best idea. Some people don't watch for motorcycles and if i wreck i will definitely get hurt.
