They like to date stuff based only on the last person to write on something, so if they dated it based on something 12th dynasty related they could have coped it, or found it and wrote on it.

Normal people starting to catch on?

It's only going to hurt a few egos. This field has slowed to the point where it's advancing based on who the last funeral was.

For most of the history of Egypt, the tools used to shape stone consisted of hardened bronze, which is much softer than iron.

Else at the collapse of the Bronze Age, when tin supplies were unobtainium, iron was resorted to because it was harder to work but more available.

And bronze, the other tool substance known to and used by the ancient Egyptians is much softer, being on average 3.5 on the Mohs scale.

Who's average? I thought there was a lost tempering technique to harden copper or bronze. Cryogenics?

Cryogenics - Wikipedia
In physics, cryogenics is the production and behaviour of materials at very low temperatures . The 13th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration (held in Washington DC in 1971) endorsed a universal definition of "cryogenics" and "cryogenic" by accepting a threshold of 120 K (or -153 °C) to distinguish these terms from the conventional ...

Don't need superhard to work rock, it just makes longer mtbf of the focus. Needs to be able to transfer the blow force to the rock such that you start a crack by fracture. Soft tools need repointing often. Crossgrain shaping is tougher but you could use just a hammer for that. Easter islanders used loose rocks and tree parts for their Maoi.

Out-of-place artifacts already ten millennia ago? Makes you think.
The lug handles are as big a mystery as the rest. That and why the precision was necessary or worth doing at the time.
Well, that and the integer relationship of all the features. That is reminiscent of plasmoid implosion technology.

Really fascinating stuff. Some of the cutting profiles could have been caused by dripping water, I think. But I don't know how long that would take.

Possibly an acid drip? Again, to explain some of the cutting lines in oilpan's link
