I wouldn't get anything larger than 14" for wheels, the HXs should be fine.

The cx/vx/hf/std had a special exhaust just for those economy models, so I think it's fair to assume there was a reason. Perhaps the length of the exhaust manifold works will with the low rpm operation.

Never done a wai, but I imagine it'd kill power and might not work too well, but who knows.

And yes, it's safe to run synthetic oil.
