Hi Frederick,

After a lot of searching I was happy to see that someone had located a source of the 3.523 gears w/out having to scour all the junkyards looking for a 1.3l Swift

Thanks for the effort!!

As I am in the states, would you have an email for Martin? Or possibly the area code?

Thanks

Also, what is he charging for the gearset?

Thanks again

What were your new mpg numbers Frederick? How much did the XFI improve? I have heard you can expect around a 2-3 mpg increase by doing the XFI cam swap.... Just researching everyones experiences when they did the swap....

XFi cam

Hi there.
Not only did I install an XFi cam but I also replaced my final drive gear set with one from a 4 cyl.
I tell the truth when I say that there is almost no change in performance, although passing is still a chore.
My driving habits have been changed to a more serene conduct.
All this said, and it's winter, my conservative estimate is that I'm doing 8-9 more miles per gallon. It's quite ardouous to translate in mpg but I do 550 km per tankfull. Summertime, a little less in winter.
Even though I have heard so many different opinions about burning super in our sewing machine cars, even though the price of said fuel is more expensive, when everything is calculated I get 30 FREE km when using it.

I like my car so much that I treated it to a very thorough new paint job, worth many times the value of the car. Espresso Nero lives on...and on....and on.
DO THE SWAP! Do BOTH swaps! And be happy. Drive consevatively and you will stretch the car, your life and your dollars.

Hypermiling is addictive haha!! I want to get some solid numbers on the setup I have now with the new tires and start from there. I am hoping for around 8 mpg with the cam, but I wouldn't happy with 4 I guess... Next after the cam I will look into a front air dam to see about improving farther... Anyone had any luck with a air dam mod?
