Any municipal MPG programs out there?

Does anyone know of any ongoing city or county programs involving fuel efficiency? Not one day a year events, but continuing efforts like free tire pressure checks, printed flyers or discount coupons for services like alignments. I'm thinking about sending a proposal to my city council.

interesting idea It would be neat if municipalities could compare fuel consumption per capita... it would be a pretty easy number to obtain as each gas station would know exactly how much fuel they sell. I think to get people interested in large numbers you would have to appeal to their competitive nature.

You could easily team up with some of us on here to make an EcoModder pamphlet. Some driving tips, checking points such as tire pressure, and an inspirational part with, for instance, 3-Wheeler's Insight, basjoos's Civic and BZP or aerohead's T-100s.

Then each of us could locally distribute them to get the wheels turning.
