I want to read that 2nd reply by Jeff Hall that starts:

Reason:
Perhaps Jeff has stumbled upon a way to make a very 'free-flow' muffler VERY quiet!? (and even more freeflow)
and that would be very good for fuel economy without the noise...

He talks of turning it into a "silencer" by cutting a path straight through the baffles.
I assume he means that his muffler now resembles the silencers one puts on guns and that he did something like the attached image file.
(How do I get that uploaded image to appear here??)

This may be BS (why lie..?) or just blind luck specific to his engine, or... just maybe one of those chance "WOW!!" discoveries dotted throughout man's history..???

I'm skeptical.

To begin with, 'silencer' is a misnomer. Suppressor is more descriptive. 'there was only air coming out.' No corrosive gases?

As am I, but SuperGlue, Velcro, Insulin, X-ray, Penicillin where all invented by mistake...

It's not what he chooses to call things or how he says things that matters; I want to know if it really was "silent" as escaping air and why...
So want to know exactly what he did.

All the baffles where still there but with a straight hole going through. Cranked it up and realized I had made a silencer, my friend could rev it up and with my head right by the pipe there was only air coming out. I wanted it louder not quieter, so i cut a hole in it and filled it with concrete as best I could. Cranked it up and wow, slightly less effective silencer 😂🙈🙉

Maybe he's just acting the fool just to get more YouTube hits, but I doubt it.

Oh flowmaster. A misnomer from long ago. Used to be called noise extractors because that made your 6 banger sound like a big block. An improvement from back in the day: installing it backwards made it quieter but didn't improve anything over side pipes.

Only cared about quiet when circling Van Nuys Blvd on cruise night escorted by LA's finest
