Anyone used a rear view camera?

I am after information on reversing cameras and screens as I want to remove my side mirrors ( a quick test showed they are adding to drag big time in my case).
My car is very small so I need to get away with the smallest monitor/screen I can, would a 3" 4:3 do the job?
Also would I be better off without the ir leds or with? I am concerned that they may cause severe flaring on the car sides of a night.
Thanks all.

I have one and I use it more than my rear-view 90% of the time.
Its a wide angle that i bought off E bay, has the IR but I think it would be better without. They work great when its WAY dark but if there are any lights back there it flares as you mentioned.

I've considered folding in my side mirrors for a quick test but the cops around here freak out if you don't have at least one.. Guess I could try at least.

I got a shock at how much difference that the mirrors made, I have a route close by that has a 5km EOC stretch on it, mirrors out max 94 kph and only at one point, toward the end I restarted due to getting down to 74 kph.
Mirrors folded (mine don't fold real flush either) 101 kph for the bulk of the 5k and minimum 79 kph and no restart required.
Same route, same wheather, no wind and both runs within a couple of hours of each other.
Provisos my car has a relatively small frontal area and is reasonably aero.
