Article: Angry drivers torching traffic cameras in England

Via Engadget

Quote:
Apparently, the Luddite tradition of machine breaking is alive and well in its country of origin. According to a report, a group calling itself MAD -- or Motorists Against Detection -- have taken to setting autonomous traffic cameras ablaze across the United Kingdom, and are detailing their exploits on a website (of course).
You'd think an ecodriver would be safe from the speed cameras. But I have to admit I've been above the limit during both a pulse and a glide.

In fact, the fastest I've driven a car in the past 5 years was during a long glide in the B.C. Rockies

And let's not get into the issue of traffic lights changing from green to amber...

If enough are destroyed then it won't make much of a profit. They'll take em out.

So I posted this over on instructables, knowing theres a few people from the UK that would likely comment...

Instructables

There's some interesting comments -- it sounds like even the more "regular" folks aren't happy either... Regular meaning the ones less likely to torch their own tax dollars
