I will start the testing with the grille blocked (to simulate an EV pickup).
The gap between the cab and bed will be sealed (to simulate a uni-body(unit construction truck [like VW's pickup,Dodge's Rampage, and Honda's Ridgeline]),and as much boat-tail as I can 'carry.'
The mirrors will come off,to render a 'camera' truck as with Probe-V,Aero 2002,Precept,Mercedes AAI,Boxfish,etc..
If I'm going to see the lowest Cd,this is where it's going to happen.
I can't share images anymore thanks to PhotoBucket.Sorry!

Yes,I'm hoping to lower what I have, down, even with the belly, plus plump the rocker panels out flush with the sides of the body, more like BamZipPow has done.Same with the rear.

inching along
Have had over 10-inches of rain in the past 2-weeks and have been juggling activities, trying to remain productive.
I'm never where I think I ought to be.The solution is to stop thinking!
I'll just keep chipping away at it and take what I've got when it's time to go.
Meteorologists say we shouldn't be impacted too much by Harvey.
BamZipPow may have a different story! Keep the snorkel handy buddy!

pre-departure check-in
Ive had to jettison many of the features I'd wanted to include on the trip.
I'll continue fabricating 'til mid-day of the 11th,then take off.
I maintain my title as worst estimator of all time.
The priority is to have nothing fall off the truck en route.I won't be able to put the tail on the truck until Sunday, which leaves no time for any test-drive.
And I'll probably have wet paint on the rig when I leave home Tuesday.
I'm trying to out smart the racoons,so my neighbor will have catfood to feed my pet while I'm away.
Dirt daubers are bombing freshly-painted surfaces. It's wild!
A neighbor came by yesterday and shot some images. He wants to do something on You-Tube.
'Weather is great right now.I've been working til upwards of 9:00 PM to have something ready for the next phase in the morning.
I'll check in as I can.
PS,found some wide-pan pop-rivets to work with. And I've replaced trim screws with truss-head screws.I also like the Rustoleum gloss enamel, compared to their acrylic lacquer.
PPS,any members in the Salt Lake City area are welcome to come by DARKO the afternoon of the 11th.Layne says it's okay.
PPPS On wet mornings when I go to town, the dew remains on the truck after the 60-mph portion. And from the streaking of the moisture, the new flow looks very promising.

I should check in before the end of the weekend. I'm falling below the threshold where I can bankroll the trip. The eagle poops on the twentieth.
So post the Youtube link and take lots of pix, plz.

It happened and I was there.
I got a PM from gumby79 that they are at Bonneville and the salt is dry.
For the records, I got 35.6 outbound in the left lanes and 41.3 inbound in the right lane.

Darco results for my whale
Results .
DISCLAIMER:
As previously discussed my truck is larger than the tunnel is allowed to operate with for an accurate CDA number the tunnel walls interfere with the reading causing it to fluctuate to the high side. I'm still looking for the factory coefficient of drag number and that will tell me how much SKU was put into the tunnel buy the oversized
The variance between runs is accurate. It's the total value that's skewed.
I input info working on the assumption that .45 is the stock it could be anywhere from .45 to .55 or higher, but shift the numbers that little bit and it will be accurate.

Conclusions?
If the windshield is already sandblasted why would you not leave the bug deflector off?

I did for Bonneville speed run and picked up 2 morerocks that are spreading. Most likely this wind shield will self destruct before winter is over with 2+months below 0°f Large cracks will compromise the windshields ability to stop a deer, elk or jackrabbit from coming through, so before they get big enough to make me a nervous wreck I'll pay the $50 glass to ductable I carry on my vehicle living in the northwest I think you can understand why I carry glass coverage(gravled/cindered roads for traction). I'm surprised it has survived as many winters (3) as it has.
