OK, we are back. My lovely bride went along to record data. Drumroll please....
.....
....
....

The tests were a total wash

Some would see this as a failure. Sure, I got all excited about a good half tank.
I see it as a success, because I taped a huge arse ugly wart of cardboard to my roof and I did not HURT my aero.
It was rough as could be. With a finer finish and transition from beetle to kammback/top, it will be helpful.

Tomorrow is round 2. I need to find a lesser terminal test hill and also a better coast down road. Hard to find a good flat road.

We used to live on Key Pennsula outside of Purdy (A little past Gig Harbor). There is small hump bridge and then a flat 1/2 mile long spit. Probably way too busy and always windy. Nice drive though.

My thought is that the spoiler is ahead of the separation line, not behind it,rendering it ineffective.

The rendering you reposted and the experiments I did with redwood strips suggest that the transition from the greenhouse cross-section to a nice Templatey half-circle can begin at maximum camber(generally at C-pillar) and angle or curve back to about the middle of the quarter window.

I'm working on a more permanent (i.e., roadable) boattail, it will be about half that height so it doesn't affect engine cooling and not have the reverse camber.

The breakthrough was realizing I can hand bend the parts over an old water heater.

Nice! like using a roll of tape for a circle template, a soup can, coffee can, etc.

I've said too much, now people will expect results.

I may or may not be working on air curtains for the front wheel wells.

Skyking, I like what you are trying to do. Reminds me of the two seat Mini and the Toyota C-HR II Concept mixed together.

Freebeard, I love that illustration with the yellow and gray grid with the aero template superimposed.

Was that done in SketchUp?
