I'm hearing that, about the heat. I am on a search for some reasonably priced insulation blanket material to put in the tunnel section between the frames on my truck. That is where the heat will be. I have plenty of space in there for a 1~2" blanket.
I am also going to wrap my manifold, turbo, and downpipe with an insulation kit like this.

...also sorta depends upon how "firmly/rigidly" the belly pan assembly is fabricated and installed.

...if too flimsey, the panel(s) can both 'tin-can' and 'flutter' to create noise & vibrations like mad!
