Best CL ad ever!!!!!! LOL

1986 Nissan Stanza Wagon

I might buy it LOL, just because of this ad. Talked a state trooper out of 80 MPH driving one.

Nice ad. Price is a little out there, though.

For a second I thought it was an ad for the one and only Nissan/Datsun I've ever owned:

Mine was a sweet, low-miles first generation Sentra with both "Nissan" and "Datsun" badges on the tailgate. I owned it less than a year in university and remember it fondly as a softly sprung, pleasant little car to drive. 5-speed... with a 2 foot long shifter. It had a calming effect -- definitely did not encourage sporting driving.

Amazingly, at its introduction it was apparently (if you believe wikipedia) the most fuel-efficient car available in the US, according to the EPA:

43 MPG (US) city (5.5 L/100 km), 58 highway (4.1), 48 combined (4.9). (Though that's likely the rating for the 2-door sedan, not the porky wagon with a suspiciously unaerodynamic looking angle to its rear tailgate.)

That's not surprising, considering the 67 hp 1.5L 4-cyl engine, 5-speed manual transmission, and light weight (~1875 lbs / 850 kg).

Anyway, that's enough OT!

Back on topic: a buddy of mine in high school drove around in one of those old Stanza wagons, but I think it went by a different name in Canada... will have to look that up.

Might have been the 1.7 liter diesel version of that Sentra that got 50 MPG.

In Canada, they called it the Nissan Multi.

Dunno why - we had the Stanza cars.
