Best route from Phoenix to Oregon?

Wish I'd have seen this thread earlier. I have made the drive from Phoenix to Portland in a 26' Penske truck with an Acura MDX in tow. We took the route offered by Google, which was the Grapevine and "The 5" North. Oregonians call it "The 5"; not sure if everyone else refers to it as that.

My friend drove with his foot planted on the floor at all times. I think it was governed to 70 MPH and a certain RPM.

Would have been neat to meet you Xist. Maybe next time I'm in Phoenix?
