Better Passive Ventilation?

Has anybody tried installing a better passive air vent in their vehicle? Like adding exhaust vents out into the low pressure wake at the back, and/or adding intakes from ahead of the radiator? If the intake tied into the existing vent system, then the warmer air that seems to happen with the intake at the base of the windshield could be avoided.

Thoughts? Questions? Hints? Experience?

I've seen it discussed a couple times, but I'm not aware of anything actually attempted. One thing to consider is exhaust fumes behind the vehicle. Make sure you've got positive airflow from front to back in any system you try.

If you take a look behind your bumper cover, I bet you'll find HVAC exhaust vents under there. The ones at the rear of the Insight move about as much air as the dash vents (no surprise there), and they exhaust into my trailing wake.

As to the intake, I bet the vent cowl is pretty cool when the car is moving, but you could spray-paint it gloss white so it doesn't get hot when you park.

I think of vents all the time. My sube was egr disaster'd and rusted, and hydrocarboned, hypergoliced, electrocuted, and a metallic paint with garnet in it is not helping...

my dads rig makes my car and its puniness even tinier...

the vent to neutralize the rigs cabin (avoid ears popping) can fit my foot through it, and it is setup in a way to know outside is right there...no 14 liter diesel heat soakage in the way.

this auto neutralizing, as it turns out is even in my old subaru...vents can refuse to close, and with vacuum hooked up know when to sneak open. All hills related, angle of car... Mindboggling little trick they got going on there...
I learned it is illegal if that "trick" does not work BTW.

I did get frustrated about the sense of oepn the rig had, my car did not. I was doing 85 on the highway one day with vent open, and stuff came flying in, from a hardwood tree, leaves, etc. It finally opened, I have no complaints.
very fresh, no interference.
I also found by natures way some rust holes to simply clean up in my outrageous welding pursuits...and never ever close them...allows cabin to flow, down low...I like to think I added my own sneaky airways of clever.

these problems are 1980s and older related, and japanese. Today it is much smarter.

Too bad the old covered cowl vents went away

Then there were the ones down by the front passengers' shins- they were quite good too

Then there were the wing windows- all quite good

Now nothing but a/c
