Yes, I've had dual safety chains (1250lb working load each) that are connected to the trailer and truck from day 1 when I picked up the trailer. I don't cross them as it didn't make any sense with the single wheel setup.
I'll try to pick up an IR gun and measure the tire temp after my first stop on my upcoming trip.
I can say one thing about shaping the radius on the lid...wear eye protection (goggles would've been great) and a filter mask when sanding foam! That stuff got everywhere!
As soon as I git my trailer wired up tomorrow, I'll go on a quick shakedown run to see how well my improvements perform.

Everything is hooked up and working!
Air shocks are pumped up to 100PSI and the air bag is steady at 95PSI. Initial drive was bouncy so a quick run to Home Depot to git 4 bags of sand and a tray to hold them in.
240lbs of sand between the pivot point and wheel with the tray more biased to the wheel. Everything strapped down tight with ratchet straps. Initial drive from Home Depot to the house was smooth with some slight drops where I would normally feel the trailer bouncing. It definitely feels like yer riding on air...sorta like a plush feeling you git with some luxurious cars.
I had fergotten to tighten the hitch stabilizer so I had to do that at the school. I'll have more data and piccies after I pick up my son from school.
The gap between the extended rear diffuser and the trailer's front chin-pan-easy is about 6" which should be easy to cover.

Piccies!
The gap door rails (red tape) were too long and contacted the front part of the lid. After I got home, I cut the rails back about 1.5". I still have to repair the damage to the foam which will be covered over with Tyvek tape and repainted.
Pivot pin is now at the 2nd from the top position instead of the #3 position.

Well...it rained during my test drive and there wasn't a single wet spot inside the trailer!
Guess that means I can be confident that any cargo I store in there should be dry from any storms that I might encounter.
I have a few more adjustments to make to the trailer before I'll be ready fer the road. The gap cover rails on the truck will have to have the bottom corner knocked off as it's still digging into the trailer lid...which shouldn't take very long to lop off in the morning.
I will base the remaining truck/trailer bottom gap cover off of the extended rear diffuser since it's already got a solid support system in place.
I will have to drop the trailer back down to the middle (3rd hole) on the hitch (lowering the front of the trailer). This will mean the access doors will have to be trimmed/rounded on the front edge a little...either that or I will have to load the trailer on the street instead of the driveway as the chin-pan-easy has been contacting the driveway on the test drives on the 2nd hole on the hitch.
I will need to install an on-board 200psi air system so I can easily air up the air shocks (or anything else) without looking fer a gas station with a decent air compressor.

SCUBA tanks are pumped to 1500psi, a little one of those would last, what, months?
At a car show I saw a mid-engined Karmann-Ghia that had an air-shifter system that used SCUBA tanks. He said he could shift the car for a month on one refill.

I'll keep that in mind but I'm really leaning towards an on-board air compressor that can do it all (shocks, air bag, tires, etc).
I did find out that I have to take the weight off the air bag in order to inflate it because it doesn't have enough power to lift the trailer up when it's loaded.
I've calculated the size of the bottom gap cover to be 66" wide x 16" long. I'll probably fold some ears on it so it won't tin can while it's in use. I have some galvanized metal from some duct work that I'll try to use. I know I have a ton more work to reduce the amount of air the trailer is scooping from the truck.

She gets better everyday!
It'll be fun to get up close and personal with it.
I know the air will approve.
PS We'll have to figure out how to keep David Hasselhoff away from it!
