Hi since bodged exhaust fix i have averaged 39.2 mpg. The two tanks that went to pot i have disreguarded. With them mpg was 26mpg. Reckon i lost 6 gallons with split fuel pipe. Will be servicing once exhaust replaced. Have annual MOT test on monday expect to fail on exhaust but other wise no obvious problems as brakes and tyres brand new by previous owner a month before i bought car. £300 of parts and tyres and 8 months tax. Not a bad deal espically as it has every extra factory fitted option. Sports handling package full leather interior heated seats trip computer etc etc.

mot fail and plug change

Hi volvo failed mot on exhaust no surprise there. Also front parking lights stupid 4w bulbs that are masked by dipped beam and misfitted head light bulb. Sorted lights on monday having new centre pipe fitted as all nuts corroded beyond use. Changed spark plugs from oem to ngk iridum engine feels smoother and pulls from lower in rev range 1300 instead of 1500 welcome side effect is now exhaust is very quiet must be to do with burn inside cylinders. Coasting is better as i can now go further with no throttle 1/4 mile in 5th before reaching stall point. Interesting to see if mpg improves with plugs and exhaust next tank will give me definate answer.

mpg update

Hi
since exhaust fixed and finding out that 55mph returns better mpg than 50mph. I am now getting 43 mpg just 2 mpg of uk gov mpg figure. Quite happy with that considering i have to drive up and down hill and cresting roads. Now planning aero mods for under boot floor as aero very dirty rest of floor pan very flat.
