As it pertains to the rounded tail, I wonder what it would take to make a tail section that lifts like the nose of a C5 Galaxy. Could a clever contraption of torsion springs and hydraulic dampers could do the heavy lifting? Perhaps the dead space inside the cone could be used to store Race Ramps or similar product to load vehicles/cargo. Maybe a cargo net, suspended from inside the cone, could be used to secure small items. I think a mildewed, old Airstream could make a likely prototype candidate.

I've seen nosecones on trailers at the Pate Swap Meet with multiple hinge articulations which allow the cone to clear the trailer box, then swing up.I may have photos, but not sure.
A problem with this design is that if you get a wind gust out of the wrong direction you've got a parachute that is going to test the integrity of it's mount.
It can also act as a spinnaker sail on a sailboat, capable of moving an un-hitched trailer.
