I've run 0-20W or 0-30W synthetic oil in NM and TX for the past 10 years in the Honda Accord. Still doesn't burn any oil between changes. My next car will run 5000 miles on what they recommend, and then change over to these oils. I changed the Tacoma over to 0-30W when I bought it used. No problems with it either. all oil is synthetic: either Mobile 1 or O'Reilly's.

On a side note...when I bought the Accord I tried the 10,000 miles between oil changes and the oil came out in clumps. Dropped back to my normal 3K to 5K and have had no trouble. The car runs very well.

It's only thinner on super cold starts; where the oil is too thick to lubricate any way. Running down the highway, with the oil completely up to temperature (which is different than coolant temperature) , there should be no difference in thickness.

Unless the 0w-30 is missing something that your engine needs (M1 0w-30 is light on ZDDP), it's going to work great for your engine.

Cost is up there, though.

You should be good for at least 15-20K miles on that.

A lot of people on bob is the oil guy go at least 10K miles on "regular" Mobil1 and Mobil1 AFE and used oil analysis data says they are good for much more than 10K miles.

If I were using EP, I would run to 10K miles then do a UOA (used oil analysis), get data and extend as long as safe.
