I couldn't sleep last night. I was up stupid late earlier this week talking to an altogether-too-young lady in southern Mexico earlier this week, but let her go earlier and earlier each of the next two nights, and we haven't chatted in a couple of nights.

I tried to go to bed around 2, which is still horribly late, but I just tossed and turned.

The first night I got up and tracked down lists of easy car repairs.

Last night I spent longer looking for DIY raised planter plans, but apparently nobody wants a raised planter as deep as Mom says she needs, but of course she is a child and doesn't differentiate between needs and wants.

Someone made a comment about growing plants that needed more depth than the raised garden provided--and the box was on the ground!

Dirt might not be ideal, but it would be better than roots clogging drain holes!

I figured that in 2023 there wasn't any reason to use a paper and pencil, but I haven't figured out how to use this newfangled technology.

I spent longer diagramming the front in Paint than the whole thing on paper and then Home Depot was finally open, so I bought a bunch of cedar boards, 2x2s, casters, and six 10" strawberry pots for the Amazon planter.

I thought that 8 cubic feet called for 8 plants, but they were $19 each!

I am positive that 24"x48" is the outside dimensions and 6 plants may be too crowded.

I finally felt sleepy, so I just unloaded my car, ate most of a box of Kashi, and at long last slept until my alarm for my 1600 client went off.

How do I make ChatOPP write those for me?

Sorry, wrong thread.

Insteqd of just building a curb and filling is you could double dig the plot.

How to Double Dig a Garden: 7 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow
21 Feb 2022Double-digging is a useful way of cultivating soil in new gardens and where deep top-soil is required. On poor or heavy soils and in vegetable gardens, it may be needed every three to five years. If you remove the sod from the bed completely you are depriving the soil of nutrients.

https://www.finegardening.com › article › double-digging
Double Digging - FineGardening
Double digging allows roots to reach deeper into the earth, where better-draining subsoil makes it less likely they'll become water-logged or oxygen-deprived. Deeper roots mean plants don't have to be watered as often. And more plants can grow in the same area because they don't have to rely on the topsoil alone for moisture and nutrients.

If she's above 18, she's not entirely too young. If shes 22+, then likely to be mostly aware (of herself).

If I were in my 40's, foreign interests would be on my radar. Gals in their 40's+ don't hold much potential for creating the future.

At least in Brazil, eucalyptus has been the wood most frequently pressure-treated, in order to make it withstand to humid environments such as poolside decks. AFAIK no "unsafe" chemicals are used during the pressure treatment.

Last year I tried building raised garden beds but they didn't work as expected. I improved the drainage but that alone wasn't enough. I will learn more from you and report back. The results tell you.

What makes a raised bed advantageous compared to one not raised? Most bugs can climb a foot, as well as animals. Maybe less weed seeds blowing in?

Far as I can see the advantages are not having to stoop to inspect or harvest, ability to add huge amounts of organic materials and like freebeard double dig in hard soil. Here in Reno, you can filter out all the alluvial river rock
