So I should look for VX's, HF's and Metros?

Yeah those are the cream of the crop, they either feature lean burn or solid mpg numbers and lots of threads on here for them.
I'm obviously partial towards Honda, but regular CRXs, and civic DXs(the hatcback version of the civic) are pretty good too if you can find one for a good price.

What's a good price? Just some example prices, so I know where to haggle to.

If they are in pretty good shape with alot of miles(180K+) 3K or so from a an individual and about 5 from a dealer.
If they are scratch free and no problems whatsoever I would expect about 5-6, but likely its going to have like 150K miles instead of 180. . .
I got my Del sol with no problems whatsoever its a 93 it had 190K miles for just under 3K. Since then its been 2 years. . .It gets about 30 stock without trying and 35 with some light modding and driving technique

New geo for sale in my city:
It's a 97, that's all I know about it. Do the engines trans on the 95's and 97's interchange? I ask because there is a wrecked geo for sale that he's parting out also, and it has the 5 speed.
Dude wants 700 for the running one.
EDIT: Just realized that an auto to manual is a pain in the butt to do, so if it's an auto I won't buy.

I know i'm going off topic but Acuras are Hondas aren't they? just rebadged. everywhere else in the world its the honda integra, the tsx is the accord - you Americans are an odd bunch!

I don't think so, they are similar though. Not in the US at least.

If the suspension mounts are not rusted on a Geo Metro, it should be fixable. It is probably due for rings and valves, and may need some technique on the shifting, but it can probably go a lot farther.

What do you mean technique on the shifting?
