Ordinaryly, when the synchros wear out, double clutching works, but some metro owners say they have found important variations on the method worked out. I can't describe it any better. Of course, the synchros can be fixed, if you have the equipment or money.

The really old people you see all managed it for their 1st test, and truck drivers still learn it. It's just a little dance move. See if the current owner is proficient at whatever the car needs, and ask for tips.
It may have had transplants, and need nothing - check it out.

82 prelude weighs 2130 lbs with manual trans which is not heavy, but Preludes have always been about performance and not economy. Hold out for a good CRX, there are still quite a few out there.

Hey MadisonMPG,
I live near you, and I can drive a manual. If you wanted me to test drive the car so you are not just relying on someone else's word, it could be arranged. Let me know.
As far as special shifting techniques go, I had a car that had to be started in 2nd gear... unless when you were coming to a stop you downshifted into 1st and used some engine braking. I have heard others say that downshifting worked for them, whether or not it's the same technique I used, I can't be sure.

Thanks, but both my parents are able to drive stick so I can get it from them. I am probably going to "test drive" some used cars that are manual, to learn.
