Should I get the 5 speed stuff from the 5 speed car like the shifter assy or do I only need the shifter ball

In every transmission swap I've seen that involved a different amount of gears, the shifter assembly also had to be changed.

The shifter mechanism is the same on the two. The 91 Tercel looks different, but is the same functionally.

Are you sure the same 4-speed shifter is going to work properly with the 5-speed transmission?

Yes. I've made a few short shifters for the guys over the years. They're all the same. Its a very simple cable driven setup.
