I will. What type of pics, of the car?

I had a great ride yesterday thru the canyon/a fast blvd. I was so zen to be in 5th and slow down from 50mph(2500) to around 20mph (1000rpm) and back up once the stop light went green again. Then a few coasts around 45mph on flat ground. It took forever to slow down to 38mph. I think 1-2 minutes just idling in neutral in my 5spd.

It sounds like this car should be a good candidate to do some pulse and glide driving.

As for the pictures, whatever you feel like. Welcome to the forum btw!

I think you have the right idea. Adjust the intake cam to reduce volumetric efficiency in the low range. I would buy a piggyback to tune it because I think you have a cable throttle and you would not want to accidentally burn up something in your engine. Cable throttle means unfortunately you're going to only be able to run lean in the very low load range since you will need to dial the AFR back up to stoichiometric as the load goes up, but it should still help a bit. I think the Greddy e-manage blue or something like that should do the trick for just adjusting the fuel, and can be had for a little over 100 bucks used.

I would also look into having the head shaved down a little for raised compression if you have it out for cam replacement. The adjusted intake cam should allow it.

Here's the link to my miata forum build thread. I have been meaning to update, but not much has happened lately. It links to the second page, so if you want to look at some egr cleaning or code p0402 you can refer back to page one. Took a few things apart and painted them.

I love that thread., okay, I just really want a mr2 as a 3rd car and having a better engine. As far as engines go, california emissions doesnt help. I'm not good at swaping in engines, so until then. No Go. But, the family celica 2.2L 5sfe gets around 18-20 in town and 21-23mpg on the highway. Its a pig otherwise. I cant believe toyota kept that engine around. I understand why they did it, but towards the late 90's a 2.2L that can only put out 135/135 was a bit outdated and mpg stayed the same. Almost no improvements.

Mhm. I had a ecu, but I couldnt dial it in to produce reliable starts and since I had work, it didnt stay around. But for the most part it isnt problematic, just my unit was. When I have more time I will invest in another one.

As far as engine work, again, when the time comes. The engine is healthy, rebuilding it now at 112K miles would be premature.
