And, how is the "fit" different? The open blade type wants to be "in" the shrouding around half the width the blade or more. Plus a clearance of 1/2" or so from blade end to shroud.
These small differences can add up in cooling efficiency. An oversized radiator -- by comparison -- is needed if airflow is compromised.

Not sure on the blade pitch difference between the two as I didn't measure it.
Overall diameter seems to be the same but the blade area seems to be slightly smaller with the 3.0L fan than the 3.4L fan...but I didn't measure it before I tried to install it.
Depth into the fan shroud seems to be the same...but again I really didn't measure it.
The radiator is the exact same radiator fer either the 2.7L, 3.0L, or 3.4L T-100 trucks. Only the radiator shroud is slightly different between the 3.0L and 2.7L/3.4L engine sizes. I did not swap out the radiator shroud.
Not sure if my grill block(s) will affect the efficiency of the fan airflow or not. I do have auxiliary temp sensors to monitor under the hood temps and ambient air temps as well as my Ultragauge monitoring my coolant temps.
