Here in Spain the civic lsi was sold .
with 2 stages vtec 90cv or 115hp . according to models .

had the econo light.

if the econo light was activated. consume less gasoline .

I left a civic lsi to change a door. I tried it a couple of trips .

the light comes on if:
the engine is at operating temperature .
You're just over (can not remember the number ) rpm
these less than 2500 rpm.
not step on the accelerator.
step on the accelerator to about half .
if you're on the go three, four or five.

This engine had a vtec system. which placed in operation 12 valves until 3000 rpm. over 3000 rpm worked with 16 valves .

I think the econo light comes on when conditions are faborables to consume little gasoline .

this car has to comply with antipollution standard. euro 1 or 2. not think it works in lean mixture.

the car owner told me that this car consumed very little.
do not ask that consumption had.

model with 3 stage vtec was the Japanese model. sold in Japan. with 130hp.

want to drive without light econo ?

change gears at 2500rpm.
not step over half throttle.
try going on the march three, four or five.

Great information thank you for posting the specifications. Your vti is a rare car as most of them were 1.4 motors, I would love to see pictures of it.

I cleaned off my engine block and transmission with degreaser a brush, and a power washer and now for some reason my 02 sensor readings are way off now.

I filled with 91 octane non ethanol this past tank and I have been shifting at 3k rpm to keep the car in the economy light area, my last tank keeping the car over square yielded poor results as I only saw 356 miles and 10 gallons to fill which is one of my worst tanks ever on this car

Actually, it is for dimming the light when your parking lights are on.

For everyone else who's running the stock bulb, the reason that the light is on that miniature circuit board is so that when you have your headlights / parking lights on and the upshift light comes on it won't be at full brightness.
