Anyone ever consider how unsafe cars are to other people/living things?

Seriously, the risks to life and limb (not just your own) go up rather steeply just by getting in a vehicle.

Who do you think is killing all those pedestrians and bicyclists? People who feel safe in their cages for the most part.

Motorcycles are a bit of an exception, as the stats include a population with a high percentage of "risk takers" and more affordable high performance machines. But still, the predominating risk for motorcycles is stupid cagers.

Some analysis: http://www.motorcycle-accidents.com/pages/stats.html

Maybe you can see that whenever safety and motorcycles is brought up, I have to question if it is a similiar line of thinking to buying larger and larger vehicles in the name of "safety".

(That was NOT an insult, rather the question I'd be asking when that story came up in my presence.)
My parents are afraid of motorcycles, because of that wreck. And the brain ****ing my aunt has given them about them. She tells of all these horror stories of immature people wrecking on motorcycles, it's just BS to keep me from buying one.

Well, of course it is.

So when you're of legal age to sign, I say go for it.

If your parents' fears and worries were based on actual thought, I'd whole heartedly agree with them, but when you base rules on fear of something you refuse to understand, or at least analyze correctly, you only venture to hamper what would otherwise be better off. (most times, not always.)

Have you considered maybe showing them factual reports of the number of deaths per million motorcycles insured versus the number of deaths in 4+ wheeled conveyance among 16-21 YO males?

Or even taking the psychological route that your aunt has taken, and mind****ing them with something along the lines of "It's nice to know you don't trust me to not get drunk like a ****wad and ride around and kill people."

It's not the prettiest flowery solution to the problem, but it just might work. When all else fails, psychology rocks.

haha Christ i've been on a crusade to get a motorcycle for transportation since I was 14, nothing is working. Motorcycles per mile are one of the deadliest (if not the) modes of transportation out there. I'm not arguing for them, it's just really dangerous.

It's not the size so much as it is the stupid things want to fall down given the chance.
