Considering an E85 Experiment

We're getting below freezing temps with some regularity now so I'm backing off on the strong E85 blends.

E85 / E0 87octane blending octanes

I am curious what ratio of E85 to E0 (87 octane) would net you 91-93 octane fuel

Ditto the 87 e10 gas.

I would like to get premium octane without buying premium fuel and am mainly curious what the ratio is.

At one time I thought there was a blending chart somewhere but I can't find it.

They are'nt maxing out. It's the Bioadapter that's causing it. Maybe wrong settings. Gonna test it and fix

I'm not sure exactly, but I know E50 is about 95.4 AKI Octane while E85 is about 95.6 Octane. I would guess it might be around E20-E30. E10 was 89 Octane before spec blending. I'm more than a little curious myself.

Elsewhere I was reading that 87 octane plain gas when blended with 30% ethanol can vary from an effective apparent octane of 91-100 depending on the alky content of the gas (whatever that means) So I guess the composition of the gasoline blended with the alcohol causes the real octane value to vary wildly due to the cooling and vapor pressure effects the mix has (which are non-linear)

Some gas companies are using this effect to save money by mixing high alkyl 82 octane gas with 10% ethanol to get 87 octane.
