Hi, I am Xist, and I have not updated in 4 days.

I finally tracked down my friend.
She is in so much pain she is constantly medicated to the point she doesn’t wake up, but I am unsure that it is enough medicine, she still grunts and groans all of the time, and says “Mom, quit it!” if anyone touches her, like to adjust her so she doesn’t get bed sores.

She had not eaten or had anything to drink all week.

I drove back Thursday morning and saw my Wednesday afternoon client and then a teleclient.

I tried to pack, but I forgot to tell Mom, who was driving the Accord, that only the smaller key worked in the ignition.

She drove my brother somewhere and that night couldn’t get the car to start.

Mom insists it wasn’t a big deal, but that sister told our sister and I that she needed to rescue Mom.

Mom kept telling me she was going to find her new cardiologist’s office ahead of time, but she didn’t, and she left late.

That sister told our sister and I that Mom missed her appointment.

This was also my fault, I should have told them ahead of time that I was driving back for another load.

Nothing ever happens as planned, so sharing plans ahead of time would be useless.

The thing is, I messaged Mom and my sisters to inform them I reached Payson over 24 hours before Mom’s appointment, so they had that long to make arrangements.

All of us thought that Mom would be responsible, but she wasn’t.

Friday night that same sister messaged us that Mom and my brother were in an accident in my Accord and the details came in excruciatingly slowly.

We still don’t know what happened. Mom’s story seems to be changing, but based on the damage to my Accord, the other vehicle, and property, I just do not understand.

The police cited her, but I keep wondering if the other driver had his headlights on, if he was speeding severely or what.

I need to go out and just see if there are skidmarks.

Those would tell us a great deal.

If there aren’t any then he didn’t brake.

Yes, she shouldn’t have done X, but if he had braked Y wouldn’t have happened.

She was driving, the car is still in my name, but on my sister’s insurance, so three parties may try to sue all of us.

I don’t have any assets, but they may still come for me.

They may try to take Mom and my sister’s houses.

I was not able to pack too much. There are a few more boxes in my closet, the three big duffel bags that were under my bed, I gave my brother my old bed frame, my dresser and 6 boxes are now in my room, some stuff for Mom, on top of her raised planter on wheels, two medium-sized pots with tomato plants, the 5 plastic chairs my sister brought us, her barbecue, and her picnic table.

I tried to give away my old mattress, but while several people reached out, nobody came for it, so it is now in the garage down here.

I kept trying to leave earlier, but it just took too long to move and secure everything by myself.

I left slightly later than the first time although I arrived a little earlier.

My brother and I unloaded the truck in an hour.

I went to bed at 2, woke up at 6, put the car on the dolly, drove to the Uhaul in Mesa, didn't realize how close I was until Google told me to turn, realized too late it was the wrong entrance and cars were coming, entered knowing I couldn't possibly turn around, so I dropped my car, parked it in the corner, dropped the trailer, pushed it next to the truck, made a 5-point turn, pushed the trailer and hooked it back up to the truck, but realized the gas was slightly too low, so I backed out and drove to the nearest gas station, which only had one pump and I didn't know if I could maneuver through it.
I couldn't, dropped the trailer, pushed it, reconnected it, and saw that the station across the street had many pumps and was 20¢ cheaper.
I put in 5 gallons, but maybe 3-4 would have been enough.
I walked to my car, drove home, and tried to get back to sleep, but couldn't.
I got ready early, but not early enough. I met up with an old friend who attended church with us.
She and Mom could each lose their house.

That was shorter than my previous post, right?
Right?!

That sounds a little extreme. For instance bankrupsy doesn't mean loss of your home:

Can I File Bankruptcy and Keep My House? - Upsolve
27 Jan 2022In a Nutshell Bankruptcy law allows you to keep your home as long as certain conditions are met. Whether you can file bankruptcy and keep your house depends on your unique circumstances. Here's what you need to know. Written by Attorney Andrea Wimmer . Updated January 27, 2022 Table of Contents Will I Lose My House in Bankruptcy?

Which Bankruptcy Chapter Should I File to Keep My House? | Nolo
To keep your house in Chapter 7, you'll need to meet the following criteria: You're current on your house payments. You can protect all of your home equity with a bankruptcy exemption (see above). You'll be able to continue making your payments in the future. If you can't meet the requirements, Chapter 13 bankruptcy will be a better choice.
Were there multiple fatalities in the other vehicle?

My sister linked a video while I keep searching for articles about it.

Before I found out that Mom was cited I sent a picture to a local news channel.

I deleted it when I found out that Mom was cited for failure to yield and deleted the conversation, but they asked if they could use the picture.

Not wanting to compound our troubles, I said that I didn't have permission after all.

I checked every news channel a little while ago and still didn't see anything.

I still have many questions.

The 3,000-pound Accord could only accelerate to 10.3 MPH in the distance of the turn lane and it was a 35 MPH zone, so the 4,800-pound minivan was driving at least that fast, probably faster.
Trigonometry says that Mom could have made the minivan move at a 10.5° angle, but the minivan moved at a 75° angle, so he must have made a left turn.
There aren't any skid marks, so he didn't brake.
I shared this this morning and my California sister said this is great research and I needed to share it with the police and insurance, but my Gilbert sister said "I told you insurance says they won't fight this, stop arguing!"
She did not tell me that and I definitely was not arguing.
My brother's SLP, who became an attorney, said nobody cares what I say and they have smarter people than me working on it.
Of course, she acts like everyone is smarter than me, but it doesn't mean there are competent people working on it.
She did say that the other driver was required to mitigate damages, which would involve braking.
Since there is no way that Mom could have sent him into the building, that is entirely on him.
At 35 MPH he would have had 1.8 seconds to react, but I wonder how much speed he would have lost making an immediate left turn.
Mom was cited for failure to yield, but that doesn't mean that the other driver wasn't cited for anything.

My sister linked a video showing people being treated and the guy who drove into an apartment building was sitting up and looking alert.

I really hope that Mom just has a ticket for hitting the minivan and insurance says that she needs to pay for damage to the minivan, which cannot be determined after he drove into an apartment building, which isn't her fault, but $1,000 would have been enough to repair the $2,600 vehicle?

I am supposed to drive back to Show Low tomorrow and this time my sister is supposed to cram into my car so she can drive back Mom's car so my nephew can learn to drive on it before school resumes.

My sister has not mentioned her Odyssey, but it is only several years old and she has had many difficulties with it. There was some electronics issue causing the alarm to go off constantly and she couldn't drive it for a month or two while parts were on backorder.

She said she was making payments on a vehicle she couldn't drive and she needed a vehicle, so they lent her a new one, but when she came over on Sunday her minivan had a personalized license plate holder.

My brother-in-law's Hyundai isn't holding up too well. I borrowed it a few months ago and thought it drove pretty well, the brakes just squeaked.

My sister said they just spent thousands fixing it up and they cheaped out on the brakes.

Mom's car is better than my sister's or her husbands--at least as long as the Odyssey keeps breaking.

Someone needs to thoroughly clean Mom's car, though.

Well, my brother-in-law doesn't keep his car clean, so someone needs to clean Mom's [just not deep-clean it].

My sister offered to help pack, but she only has one day off, although she has next week off.

I need to drive down Friday evening or early Saturday for my friend's funeral.

I was in the grocery store with my brother when I found out she passed.

I really don't want to be awake right now.

Any consolation, the latest we have here in Reno is the RPD will interrogate the braking system to get speed and other braking data through the obd port before publishing the accident report.

Doesn't need to have multiple casualties for the ambulance chasers to show up willing to make an easy profit.

My school accepted us 53 days before school starts and one week prior informed us that we had orientation

Thirty-four of us are moving from all over the country, perhaps some internationally, and you figure that many of us are busy getting ready this last week.

I finally saw my schedule yesterday and my sister claimed that I was perseverating trying to ensure that I do everything necessary to start school.

I keep worrying that they will say "You didn't take care of this little thing we didn't tell you to do. Sorry! Try again next year!"

I went through a couple dozen school e-mails on Monday and each of them required me to do something that took time.

I didn't get to the one that told me I needed to attend orientation until today.

My sister yelled at me for not making Mom and my brother get ready, but I told her that I planned on leaving them, which I doubt she appreciated.

She kept complaining that I didn't schedule everything the night before and I kept replying "I just found out my friend died."
"I'm sorry, but..."

Mom kept doing the same thing--when she was the one that didn't get ready.

Did they realize how terrible they would sound if they told me that I could not slow down at all after losing a friend of over 20 years?

I drove to Snowflake, dropped off everyone at McDonald's, quickly messaged the mom that my family refused to get ready and I was just dropping them off at McDonald's, and I drove to my client's house.

She complained that I was late.

I started telling her about my crazy few days: Mom was stranded, missed a cardiology appointment in the morning, and wrecked my car that night.

Now three of us are worried that we will be sued.

"Can we start working yet?!"

Cool cool. All of our lives may be ruined and you don't want to hear about it.

She asked when my last day was and I explained that it was my last time seeing her for the foreseeable future.

She really didn't like that.

Her mom walked past and my client ensured her mom knew.

The dad had said that we could resume Zoom in the evenings or weekend when I had the time, but the mom said "Actually, there is a new lady out here visiting people in-person, so we will just switch to her."

Cool cool, I worked with them for 5 years, drove 45 minutes each way despite other vehicles hitting mine and all kinds of drama. Her daughter is stressed out because there will be change and the mom wants to drop me.

It was frustrating because I needed to pack up half the house, but I supposedly had two days, and kept asking myself "Can I just work on the 2002 Civic tomorrow and then throw everything in the truck on Friday?"

I realized that I needed to drive down Friday afternoon so I can attend my friend's funeral Saturday morning, but I still had some time to work on the Honda, right?

I was finally going to write the notes and progress reports that were due on Friday, but Mom got in an accident, and was hospitalized with a brain bleed.
I just checked my school e-mail one last time.

I had an email from a lady I had asked some questions.
She replied "If you wanted any questions answered, you needed to attend the orientation yesterday and today! I emailed you on Monday!"
Thirty-four of us moved here from all over the country, perhaps from other countries, and one week before school starts they gave us two days' notice that they claimed our last three weekdays before school starts.

So, once accepted we were supposed to move and put our life in order in 46 days so that we can dedicate ourselves to grad school 7 days before we actually start?

There isn't a bookstore, just a 7-page list of required books with 27 titles, and estimated prices totaling over $3,000, but sometimes it showed one book for the thesis track and another for the non-thesis track.

I believe that it showed different versions of the same book with different prices, but it is still definitely over the $1,000 that the GI bill gives me each year.

I am going to try to get to bed early, wake up early, go to my favorite barbershop, and then try to get to school as early as I can and try to find out what I missed over the past two days.

My ex attended the funeral; it took two days to make Cox work.

Once I wasted hours of my life with five different Cox representatives and several hours trying to make it work on my own, one told me to call 912, and after half an hour I was finally able to set up the modem on my end.
My 500 mbps connection tested at 512.
