Sometimes I wish I had the patience to set up a modem by myself, instead of having it done remotely through the phone...

I needed to do both.

How would you feel if your ex attended the funeral for another lady you dated?

All the hardware I use self installs, you only need a call if the account isnt aged enough to get the fancy add ons working, or you have a very noisy line. Cant wire it wrong, everything has a specialty plug that fits either way and those come with the unit in the delivered box. Don't know how they do it where you live, but judging by the Americas travel guy on TV, you aren't that far behind the USA

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone seems nice in grad school, but it is overwhelming, and since it is the second year, they are somehow still figuring out things.
I wouldn't expect them to figure out 100% of things the first year, but each time they need to figure out something I wonder "Didn't you do this last year?"
Maybe they are changing some things.
I don't know.
We had a quiz due last night and it was supposed to be over the first two chapters of the book and the syllabus, but there must have been questions from the lecture, I just didn't look up the slides and review them because they weren't specified.
We were allowed to take it twice, but each time there was a question I couldn't find in the text, the syllabus, or on-line.
The second one was whether or not 3,000,000 American kids receive significantly fewer calories than the government recommends and I was positive that was low, but I could not find a source that I felt confident used the same number.
I originally selected false, fearing it was far worse, but changed it to true because she gave us a specific number and I hoped that 10-15 million kids received too few calories, but not significantly fewer than recommended.
I got it wrong, so potentially my first score in grad school is a 90, and I am sure there will be far more difficult tasks.
I am supposed to start clinical rotations next quarter and they expect me to complete at least 500 in 21 months.
We were supposed to read 7 chapters before class on Friday, but I needed to observe 25 hours of speech before I graduated, I cannot find my certificate, and my old professor wouldn't send me a copy.
My professors kept saying "Just do it again."
This week.
On top of everything else.
I watched 25 videos for ASU and MUMU.
They weren't quite an hour each, but even though I tried answering questions during the video, I always reviewed my answers one last time and revised them.
Maybe if I had gone out of my way to use so many words the first time I would have earned a better grade and would have gotten in somewhere before.
Anyway, my professor assigned me 34 videos that are a total of 25 hours in length, and since I always end up reviewing and revising for 5 minutes before submitting, they are taking me more like 30 hours on top of classes, readings, quizzes, and assignments.
My classmates kept freaking out about a grammar quiz for another class, which isn't supposed to be due for 4 weeks, but claims it is late.
We are supposed to be able to take it 3 times, but it only let me take it once.
We only need to score 80% for full credit, but I scored 60%.
Most of it doesn't resemble anything that I studied for two Bachelor's and I couldn't find anything on-line.

I may be kicked out for the VA not filling out a form--or because I cannot receive my GI bill certificate

I finally finished those videos and thought that I could breathe.
Work was harassing me, but who cared about the company that barely gave me enough clients to survive once I gave up the majority of my caseload and moved somewhere significantly more expensive?

It doesn't matter if I realize their every hope and dream, it won't be enough to support myself, and I could never earn as much as I could as an SLP.

I thought that I could finally breathe, but the school secretary sent me a stern e-mail stating that I wasn't in compliance because the VA didn't fill out that form and dire things would happen if I didn't come into compliance!

So, I worked on that instead of studying for a quiz.

The VA did not have my childhood records.

I had requested them from California, but they didn't have them.
Arizona had just sent them the day before, but they were still incomplete.

I told her that I had asked the VA for something else, but had not heard back and that apparently I needed a chicken pox vaccine and to retake CPR.

She listed 4-5 things that I still had wrong, but most of those were items that I had just mentioned.

I told her that I told the VA that I needed them to take care of the rest.

I finally got my doctor to agree to fill out that form, but days later that nurse I took out wrote me "Here's that letter you requested!"

No, I stated over and over the school requires my doctor to fill out this form, not write a letter.

I passed it on anyway because I did not think that the VA would ever follow simple instructions and the secretary says "Your doctor wrote that you received a physical in October of 2023. They need to fix this to a valid date."

I told the VA they needed to spell my name right and fix the date.

I didn't realize that they spelled my name right, but did not fix the date until the secretary was harassing me, so I told them to fix that, too.

I swear that I had e-mailed them about 6 things in one day.

One was that I have gone through the VA's site over and over and everything shows this address and that I am receiving care in Phoenix, but I am still receiving e-mails from Show Low.

Fortunately, it isn't the nurse that I took out, it is her coworker.

Rent is due on Tuesday and they pass on the 3.5% transaction fee, $77, if I pay by credit card.

I called the VA and someone said that they mailed my GI bill certificate to Show Low mid-June, so I should have received it, but I never saw anything.
She said that she would mail me another, but when I asked the landlord for our mailbox number, the key didn't fit.

She also said that she showed me in Show Low, but would change it, but I continue to receive e-mails from Show Low.

I finally made the time to try to figure out post office could help with my key, but the site wouldn't tell me.

I went to the closest one, which told me to go to a second, which told me to call a third--which is closed today--to have my mail forwarded to a fourth while I wait weeks for a new key, which will cost $40.

For some reason I thought that I needed to immediately accept my student loans, which would immediately accrue interest, even though I don't know if I actually need them.
I am positive I will, I just figured there were too many variables to know for sure, and I already paid $500 in interest on a pandemic business loan that I couldn't use and returned, I don't want to avoid using a student loan and still owe interest!
My family persuaded me to wait to accept loans until I actually needed them.
However, it can take a month or more to receive the money, so I need to pay rent with my credit card and deal with the $77 fee?

Timothy Leary once said "Don't fear senility. It's like being high all the time".

Everything in my field of vision that should be black is neon patterns like you see with your eyes closed.

Why do we see colors with our eyes closed? - Scienceline
Biophotons exist in your eyes because your atoms constantly emit and absorb tiny particles of light, or photons. This photon exchange is just a part of normal cellular function. Your eyes can't tell the difference between photons from outside light and the biophotons emitted by your own atoms.
I'm not a person of color, I'm a person of light.

Most of the times I had a hard time talking with older folks, it was due to some hearing impairment they had. Yet my father-side grandpa often feared being mistaken for a "crazy old man" because he tended to repeat what had been told to him after asking people to repeat something he didn't hear so clearly. He had a stroke 5 years prior to his death BTW, and tended to whisper with a weaker voice compared to how he talked prior to that stroke. Grandma OTOH had kidney and liver diseases, and AFAIK she was resorting to a hearing aid in her last years, but she didn't have any age-related or illness-related speech impairment. Not to mention her prodigal memory...

This thread is my blog, right?!

I started writing this in my converted commercial shed thread, but I want to keep my lies straight.

I mean...

We have already had two group projects due and my groupmates completed them, largely without my input, and submitted them with my name on them days early.

I totally wanted to do my part, but I haven't been able to get ahead in grad school, I am barely able to finish everything by the deadline.

There was a group discussion due last night, which wasn't posted in Canvas.

Everyone knows what Canvas is, right?

...or you gather that it is a place to post things, presumably for school?

I hadn't heard of it, we used Blackboard, but my first semester each professor had their own webpage.

A classmate just turned 40 and had asked if I was her dad's age.

As a reminder, I am 44.

Regardless, I believe that her husband was smart to wife her.

Anyway, Canvas didn't show anything in the dashboard, so I did the reading, watched the assigned videos, and earned 10/10 on the quiz, and then saw that the professor had reminded me through Canvas to participate in a discussion.

I need to figure out what is due, but not listed on my dashboard and make my own calendar.

Also, I need to check my Canvas inbox every day because on top of my school e-mail.

Yesterday, I redid CPR, was in class for 3 hours, saw one client, talked to a friend who was just diagnosed with cancer, wrote my notes, and did the aforementioned school stuff.

I wish that all of my days were that focused.

Once I finished those 34 videos, I have struggled to accomplish anything if I don't have a deadline.

Fun fact! At least one of our professors marks things as due immediately, but they are still open for at least another day or two.

Another one marks everything as due at 11:59, but they are still open until 12:20.

However, they lose 10% at 12:00.

So, yes, I am in grad school, and don't have the time to write this.

Did I mention meeting a beautiful young lady for cookies the Friday before school started?

That seemed like an odd choice, but it was fun.

She took one bite, I took two, and we just sat in In and Out for 2 hours, chatting.

We agreed to meet for breakfast, but I wasn't smart enough to confirm the day before. I messaged her ahead of time, but she didn't realize that I tried to confirm.

She also runs several miles 4 times a week, so that may have distracted her.

Guys!

I swear that she is the first lady I have ever taken out who exercises!

I like BBWs, but I love that she takes care of herself!

How many poor decisions have I told you about women I dated making--besides making me?!

Anyway, I laid back down, couldn't sleep, and tried to take care of things for the first day of grad school.

Somehow I forgot that we must have had a great first date, I tried to see her before my first day of grad school.

She didn't talk to me a great deal during the week, so I asked her to dinner for last Friday--and then asked out another lady for Saturday.

Dinner went so well that I canceled lunch with the other lady and we haven't talked since.

May the odds ever be in her favor.

I finally got a hold of that third post office, which told me to go into the second and put in a work order to have the key replaced.

Why did the second tell me to call the third?!

Of course, the second closed at noon.

Since the only guarantees are death and taxes, I decided to drive back to Show Low last weekend.

I had just established that the young lady would be willing to go with me, she enjoys spending time with me for some reason.

We attended Church together and drove up on Sunday.

I never understood the appeal of road trips, but that was huge fun, so I started thinking of day trips that we could make, but I realized, first of all, I probably cannot spare the time.
I really don't want to suddenly deal with repairs again--in grad school.

I don't seem to be able to find anything through Amtrak.
