Couple Eco scores at Spring Carlisle swap meet
Today I went to the swap meet and was on the search for a deal. One thing I wanted to look out for was an older vacuum gauge becuase of their nostalgia look and feel. First one I found was pretty cool but the guy wanted $50...it wasn't that cool. A while later was looking at more stuff and found one I really liked and bought it for cheap. It doesn't have a light but I really like it, need to brainstorm mounting and illumination but I really like the gauge. I also picked up some "go buttons" for decent price. Nice looking momentary switches meant for nitrous but will work for start and kill switches. All in all a good day with not a lot of money spent

Nice find. I love my vacuum gauge on the Metro. Its so helpful.
I was thinking about getting an 'economy' minded one, but ended up going with something that matched my gauge cluster.

Thanks guys. Yea I have a regular vacuum gauge that I still haven't hooked up to my Focus, loved it on my Saturn though. I think it's cool having the outer zones and really want to get this one hooked up. Only think I'm worried about is slow response. I sucked on it and it didn't really spring back real quick like my regular gauge does. I might take it apart and see if it can be made faster.

you pulled a vacuum on it. probably has a dried diaphragm.
I like the "supercharger range".
maybe when it's apart, give it a light cleaning.

Played with it tonight when I got home from work. Couldn't see a hole inside the barbed fitting so I wiggled a paper clip around in there and I guess I knocked out a particle of something becuase the gauge is working fast now like my other one. Now I need to think of a light and make a new lense that is not so scratched up.
Anyone ever add a light to a non-lit gauge? I'm open to any ideas and advice...

I don't know what the back looks like, but could you drill a hole and mount an LED on there?

Thanks for the idea, I picked up a pair of accent LED lights at PepBoys yesterday from the "rice" section. Took the housings apart and pulled out the LEDs. I think I can double stick tape them to the inside of the housing and illuminate it enough. Inside needs to cleaned up, looks like it was sitting in water on the 20in/hg side becuase it's rusty right there. Figured I'd paint it white of chrome for more reflection and better light.
Only problem with all this is that I was also looking around for places to mount the gauge and I just can't find a location I like. I did find a spot I like for my old gauge though so I will probably be mounting the "old" one soon and keep the swap meet grab as an "Eco-relic"
