CRX owner
I Just got a 1988 CRX DX for $1500
I found this CRX when shopping for a Miata. Looking on the Web I found out its a favorite for saving gas. At least the HF is.
It has 166K miles. The timing belt, head gasket, and water pump were just replaced. The front axles was replaced 2 years ago. Only mod it has are 14 inch Acura steel rims. Paint and interior is in excellent condition for a 20 yo car.
I think there is a problem with the ECU. When i shift, it revs up a little, as if my foot stayed on the gas??? i'm not sure if that is normal.
Anyways, I found your site, and realized that i kinda drive like described in the articles.
I'm not planning on doing much to it. Thinking of covering the openings in the under carriage, especially the rear bumper.
I just put my first tank, and we'll see what the mileage is...

Welcome to the site. The CRX with a 5-speed has a lot of MPG potential. Fun too. Maybe not Miata fun, but there you go.
I don't think you have a problem with the computer itself. Something may be out of adjustment, perhaps. I'm sure you'll hear from one of the Honda experts in the group.

Welcome to EM! My 1989 CRX was my first new car a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Best car I ever owned and 100% "me". Does it have a rectangular instrument cluster housing or a round instrument cluster housing?
For all my cars, when I shift, the RPMs jump for a moment. I think of it as the engine RPM jumping from being "free" of the load. Does it stay at high RPMs or does it settle to idle RPM? Maybe your describing something more extreme than I am?

It settles after about 1 second.
The guy that sold it to me, said he will replace the throttle body. I'm not sure it it will fix it.
