Das Newb

I joined up today. Cool Forum!

I've been running three bangers for a while now as DD's. Started with a Chevy Sprint back in the early 90's, Had Metro's in '92, '94 flavors, and for the last many years have been treating my '99 like gold.
My Father-In-Law was here over the weekend to take ownership of the '94. I had been saving it, with the pipe dream of installing a small kubota diesel for evil experiments. I found a '96 long block in a buddy's shed instead, and installed it for Pop. He hauled it home today. He's finally come to the conclusion that using a V8 pickup for a daily driver isn't the best thing for his pocket book.

I also toy around drag racing slant sixes. It's a terminal disease I'm afraid. Nope, they don't get very good economy, yet the built up ones sometimes do better than stockers out on the freeway. I don't drive these cars often anyway.

I'll try to keep out of the way most of the time. I won't have a lot to add to many threads. I just don't know enough. It's still fun to look over the possibilities, and apply them as appropriate.

My Metro runs on 5w30 synthetic, synthetic transmission oil, and has Salt Flat disks for wheel covers. Best of 52mpg, though more realistic is 49 freeway. (I'm not entirely sure the fills on the 52 mpg run were entirely equal. Oregonians aren't allowed to pump gas.)

Still loving my little Metro. It gets religious maintenance.

CJ
