Newb here, 2004 Mazda 3 2.3l
So I'm interested in squeezing some more MPGs out of my car, it should be fun. I'm not going to do anything crazy, but I did pump my psi on my tires to 40! woo hooo. I'm also driving more economy-ish and logging my MPG, so i'm excited to see what I come up with. I figure anything 30 or higher is good for my car.
Does anyone here have a mazda 3 and have any particular tips with it?

Welcome to ecomodder! How'd you find us, if I might ask?
How's the mazda 3? It looks like it could do well for fuel economy, but I've heard mixed reviews.

Welcome to EM!
By the way, great car. I test drove a few with the intention of buying one a couple years ago and also rented a 2.0 auto. Fun and efficient.
The benefit your vehicle has is the manual transmission. Review the suggested link, take a look around the site, have some fun, and...
Best FE to ya

Welcome to the site Krunko. Getting 30 mpg out of your car will be a breeze. I do know of one owner who gets better than 40.

Krunko -
Welcome to EM! The 3 hatch is a great design. I am thinking that you can pull up to 40 MPG with driving technique. But, I also think the Mazda sips a bit more gas because I think Mazda tunes their US drivetrains for performance, so I am guessing you'll have to find it's sweet spot.

Hey I have the same car with the 2.3.
My mpg is in my sig & keep in mind that's MIXED driving. I seem to pull 37-ish on the highway.
Here are some mods I have that helped me listed here:

I really like the car, it has a lot of luxuries of nicer cars but still only cost 21k new back in 2004.
I've been getting about 27mpg combined, which is about right. I'm wondering what mods I can do to up my fuel economy...maybe lighter freer flowing exhuast ?

Can you direct me to this owner? I'm really curious on how he does it, that's pretty crazy. I havn't been able to get over 30 on a tank of gas yet.
