DeDion truck axle

I remember seeing one of these in a wrecking yard in the 1970s. Would work great in a rat rod bobber truck.

I'd forgotten about the engine offset.

It not easy to find independent suspension with truck-sized parts.

4WD variants of certain European FWD vans, in order to retain a low floor height at the loading bay, resort to independent rear suspension too. Another setup that caught my attention recently was the one of AWD versions of the Chrysler minivan from late-'90s, which resort to the same rigid axle of the FWD at the rear, yet with the addition of a differential and half-shafts.
